January in Falmouth

Once again, it was beautiful in Falmouth. The winters are just as wonderful as the summers but in a very different way. The peace, quiet and chill are all a great change from the confusion, noise and warmth of a beautiful day basking in the summer's sun. When the wind is whipping at your face and the sand is covered in a dusty snow, within your boots your toes are longing for the feeling of sand slipping through them. All that inhabit our shores now are the well fed seagulls that are dreaming of the tourists laying out a banquet table on the sand.
As you can see, by the top photo.....some of the seagulls fill up pretty well and are all set throughout the winter.

For Her

As she walks away, I stand here watching a part of my life end.

A feeling from my chest follows into my fingertips, tears flood my eyes and my ability to speak vanishes just as her form fades from sight.

Moments before, when her arms were wrapped around my neck and her cheek to mine, I heard a faint whisper, "I love you Mom." It wasn't much clearer than the first time I heard, "I love you, Mommy" from her lips so many years ago.

Now in my mind I see her face, touch her curls and feel her with me. I hope she feels me with her every step of the way and in her mind hears from my lips, "I love you, you are like no other."

As she faded from my sight a part of her life is just beginning.

Falmouth in January is just beautiful and the New Year's snow left a dusting on the beaches and sea grass that just added to it's beauty.
